Fraud is omni-present nowadays
If you feel you have been contacted or visited by someone who does not
belong to The Michael Coss Brain Injury Foundation and asked for a donation,
in person or via internet, here are a few points you should look at before
proceeding any further with this person
- If you received an email, if the sender's email address DOES NOT include
"@secondchancestepbystep.org", this person is NOT working for the foundation.
- If you've been contacted by phone from someone claiming to be working for or on behalf of The Michael Coss Brain Injury Foundation, ask his/her first and last name and drop us a line to confirm he/she is working for us.
- Everybody is welcome to start collecting donations for and on behalf
of The Michael Coss Brain Injury Foundation. To do so, this has to be
done through an official donation platform such as GIVEMEANING.COM. For
a donation page to be approved, only proposals accepted by a Canadian
registered charity or non-profit can fundraise through the donation platform
like the GiveMeaning website. So make sure that the person who is raising
fund online is doing it through a well-known donation platform.
- You may have to deal with some people who seem to be involved in an
event for raising funds and awareness like a 50/50 draw, a raffle, and
even a school event, a sport or social activity event, to collect funds
to the profit of The Michael Coss Brain Injury Foundation. Be aware that,
even though this is something that we absolutely encourage to do, people
interested in hosting their fundraisers MUST BE APPROVED by us prior to
starting any fundraising activity on our behalf. Names and Contact info
and many other details regarding the event have to be collected before
the event takes place.
In any case, if you feel that something is not right or because you simply want to get confirmation, contact us by dropping us a line using our contact form.
