  1. Every year in Canada over 11,000 people die as a result of a traumatic brain injury.

  2. Acquired brain injuries are the leading cause of death and disability for Canadians under 35 years of age.

  3. The most affected are young males between 18 and 35 years old.

  4. It is estimated that winter sports such as skiing and skating accounts for about 20,000 (traumatic) brain injuries each year in the United States.

  5. An acquired brain injury is defined as a major interruption of brain functioning after birth. It can happen to anyone at anytime!
